But what is travel, really? Oxford defines it as "to go from one place to another, typically over a distance of some length." And that first part, "go", says it all. Travel is about movement. It's about leaving your comfort zone, embracing the unfamiliar, and learning something new along the way.
For me, travel is all about learning. It's about gaining a deeper understanding of the world by opening your eyes wide, asking questions, and listening closely. It's about trying new foods, sharing meals with strangers who become friends, and seeing humanity in every corner of the globe. It's about empathy, equality, and curiosity. You should leave behind a bit of that everywhere you go.
Travel is romantic, scary, exhilarating, and honestly, a lot of fun. I know because I've been lucky enough to experience quite a bit of it. I've visited all 50 U.S. states, most of Canada, parts of Mexico, Central America, and Europe. And I'm not done yet.
It's How I Travel is my way of sharing the journey with you. Here, you'll find stories from the road (past and present), practical tips, and honest reflections. The goal? To help you travel better, so you can learn through your own travel.
Remember, this is how I travel (hence the name). Not every suggestion or perspective I share will match yours, and that's okay. I might be that friend you disagree with but still learn something from. Or I might be that friend who just gets you, and everything I say feels like music to your ears. Either way, I'll keep writing. So please: keep reading, keep learning, and keep sharing.
